Product description
The Hanna Instruments HI 99161
is a portable pH and temperature meter for measuring semi-solids such as
meats and cheeses with Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC),
automatic one- or two-point calibration, a multilevel LCD screen with
tutorial messages, a pH electrode with internal temperature sensor, and a
battery error prevention system. A pH meter is commonly used to measure
the pH of substance such as water, food, beer, or wine in laboratory,
industrial, and food applications. The multilevel LCD screen displays
the current measurement, the current temperature, and tutorial messages
for calibration and setup. This meter has ATC for accurate readings in
fluctuating temperatures. The meter also has one- or two-point automatic
calibration with two sets of memorized buffers: standard (4.01, 7.01,
and 10.01) or National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
(4.01, 6.86, and 9.18). The meter comes with the FC 202D polyvinylidene
difluoride (PVDF) body, pre-amplified pH electrode with internal
temperature sensor, single open-junction to prevent clogging, viscolene
electrolyte for fast response, conical tip for piercing semi-solids and
food, Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) connector for a tight cable
connection, and 1 m (3.3') cable.
The meter uses three 1.5V AAA batteries (included) for up to 1200 hours of continuous operation and can be set to turn off automatically after eight minutes of non-use to extend battery life. The battery error prevention system alerts when battery power is low and displays battery percentage on startup. The HI 99161 portable meter also comes with a buffer solution sachets, electrode cleaning sachets, a hard carrying case, and instructions.
H
is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is
width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the
horizontal distance from front to back.
A pH meter, also called a sensor or tester, is a device used to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. A pH meter has either a portable or a benchtop body. Many portable meters are handheld devices. Some testers have an internal sensor, and may have a tip and body that fit inside of a container for measurement. A meter is commonly used in many different environments from laboratories to field research and manufacturing facilities. Researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists use a pH meter in aquaculture, agricultural, wine-making, and water-testing, and for scientific applications. Some pH meters may measure additional parameters such as dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity (also called electro-conductivity or EC), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity, resistivity, or oxygen reduction potential (ORP)/mV.
Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.
